16-Week Mechanized Forestry Program
Cost: $26,600 offering a $6,650 Bursary for eligible students
This internship-based program combines classroom learning with hands-on fieldwork. You’ll master key mechanical systems, gain practical experience on state-of-the-art forestry equipment, and understand critical market factors that impact the industry.
During this 16-week program you’ll learn to follow the 12 week program except you can choose two machines for the practical seat time. The last 4 weeks would be an internship placement where you would work with a contractor on a specific machine on an actual job site.
12-Week Mechanized Forestry Program
Cost: $19,950 offering a $2,000 Bursary for eligible students
An intensive program focused on the essentials of mechanized forestry operations. Designed to fast-track your entry into a career that makes a difference.
During this 12-week program you’ll focus on one forestry machine of your choice. Choose between the harvester, porter/forwarder or thinning machine (mini excavator with a specialized shear head). The program is designed to maximize hands- on practical learning and prepare the student for an entry level position.
The first 6 Weeks will be held primarily at the school with the days split between industry theory (classroom) and machine seat time. Typical week is Monday – Thursday follows 4 day/8 hour week with ½ day theory & 1/2 day hands on model, Fridays are used for field trips to reinforce past week and or additional theory specific to the forestry industry.
Final 6 Weeks at on-site block follow 5 day/10 hour week with Daily 2 hour maintenance, 4 hour operating and 4 hour observation (evening and night shift requirement and make up on Saturday due to weather etc)
